Chembra peak in Wayanad is one the most amazingly beautiful tallest hills of Wayanad District in south India situated 8 kilo meters south to Kalpetta and 13kms near to the town of Meppady, Standing at an elevation of 2100 meter, Chembra is the highest peak of Wayanad and a delight to thrill seekers. The peak adjoins Nilgiri hills in Tamil Nadu and Vallarimala in Kozhikode. Chembra Peak trek is a popular choice among amateurs which provides rewarding views for a naturalist, at a moderate effort and is considerably well known and safe as the district forest office keeps a close watch with their guides. Chembra peak starts amidst tea plantations and gradually takes you in the lush green forest and picturesque landscapes. A heart shaped lake on the way to the top of the peak is yet another tourist attraction. The lake is believed to have never dried up. Known as “hridhayathadakam” in the local language, this heart shaped lagoon is a beautiful sight to marvel at.
